Farahan Wazer

Farahan Wazer is the Founder and CEO of Occivar, a Melbourne-based company building privacy-first edge AI for physical spaces. Occivar measures how buildings are actually used, hour by hour, zone by zone, using on-device inference so raw frames never leave the sensor, no faces are recognised and no video is stored. The product turns occupancy into anonymous, operational intelligence that owners and operators can act on without surveilling the people in the room.

Wazer brings an engineering foundation to the problem, holding a double degree in Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering (Honours) and Computer Science. Before founding the company he worked as a property asset manager, and across roughly a decade he has worked at the intersection of built-environment data, IoT systems and procurement, covering the practical realities of how building technology is specified, bought and run. That background pairs computer vision expertise with a systems-engineering instinct for what actually survives in the field.

Under his leadership the company, operating as Occivar, the legal entity CrowdVision.ai Pty Ltd, has been recognised for its approach to energy-efficient, privacy-protecting building intelligence, including the CORENA Innovation Award for technology that optimises heating, cooling and lighting against real occupancy to cut wasted energy. Its edge-first architecture keeps processing at the source rather than streaming data to the cloud, lowering energy use and removing an entire class of privacy risk.

Wazer’s design philosophy is summed up in a line he returns to often: “I want a world where the building tells you what it needs, without telling you who was in it.” It captures the bet Occivar is built on: that spatial intelligence and personal privacy are not a trade-off, but an architecture decision.
